Seasons Greetings & Happy New Year from Down Under!

Hello! I just wanted to wish you a (slightly belated!) Merry Christmas and a wonderful year ahead filled with health and happiness!

2019 has been an incredible year for me - hitting the USA Today Bestseller's list, launching my 3rd mystery series and passing some big milestones in my author journey with the number of books and audiobooks sold... and I couldn't have done it without you. <3

So thank you so much for reading my books and for all your support - looking forward to sharing many more stories with you in 2020! :-)

We're having a very quiet time over Christmas and New Year...

(I'm actually working straight through! Am currently writing the first draft of "Trowel and Error", the next book in my English Cottage Garden Mysteries)

...it's really hard to get into a Christmassy mood when it's blazing sunshine and boiling hot outside - haha! Despite having lived Down Under for 18yrs now, we just can't seem to get used to a "summer Christmas".

But we're very glad that the heatwave has finally passed (and feel incredibly lucky and grateful not to be affected by the bushfires which are devastating so many parts of Australia at the moment).

The one silver lining that came with the recent heatwave was that I was forced to cut all the flowers in the garden and bring them inside (otherwise they would have just burnt)... so the house was awash with fragrant blooms! :-)

Maybe I should follow in the footsteps of Poppy, the heroine of my English Cottage Garden Mysteries, and start up a sideline business in home-made flower arrangements fresh from the garden! ;-)

Oh, we did have a treat on Christmas Eve with a visit to the Cat Cafe Purrth! This is a wonderful venture where people can enjoy time with rescue cats who would otherwise be languishing in the shelter. The 12 cats living there all have "special needs" in some way and have a forever home at the cat cafe.

It's a fantastic way for people - who either can't have cats or are unsure about getting a cat (or people who love cats and just want to cuddle some more!) - to spend time interacting with the resident felines.

A part of all proceeds goes to the local cat shelter and the young couple who started the cafe have raised thousands of dollars to help rescue cats. Unlike many "cat cafes" I've seen in other places which put commercial gain in front of kitty welfare and seem to exploit their animals, this place is very ethical and puts the cats first.

Since I know many of you are cat lovers, I thought you might enjoy some of the photos...

Here are some of the resident kitties! Aren't they gorgeous?

All of them are great personalities and two in particular love climbing on your back and and hitching a ride! ;-)

The "cat lounge" is specially designed to provide many climbing and sleeping places for all the kitties and I was really impressed with how calm and happy all the cats seemed to be - especially how well they all got on together!

The Cat Cafe Purrth also sells some wonderful cat-themed products and cat toys & supplies, so we came home with a Christmas present for Muesli: a personalised water bowl! :-)
