Luckily, the nosy Old Biddies are on hand to help… not to mention her cheeky tabby cat Muesli. Add in some carol singing, Christmas baking and flannel underwear, and Gemma’s stocking is bursting at the seams. Can she solve this festive whodunnit and finally enjoy the most wonderful time of year?

And after the Christmas mystery is published, I will start work on the next English Cottage Garden mystery (Book 4: Trowel and Error) - which is scheduled to be released early next year.

I've been a very busy bee lately! Aside from publishing a new release & writing a Xmas mystery, completing an audiobook in time for Halloween, wrangling a sulky cat for a photoshoot, prepping my German translation for launch and a million other things (!)... I've also been doing a big cover makeover for my Oxford Tearoom Mysteries!

I've been worried that the old "cartoony" covers might confuse readers and look like children's books, so I've redesigned the covers in a more photo-realistic style - while still keeping the same branding (bright candy colours, Oxford's iconic skyline of "dreaming spires" in the background and a grey tabby with mystery elements in the foregaround).

This is also more consistent with the cover style of my other 2 mystery series, so everything looks like it's from the same stable now ;-)

And for those of you wondering what the "wrangling a sulky cat for a photoshoot" was all about... Well, it's been 5yrs since my current author photo was taken back in 2014 and I think it's time for a new one!

But - OMG - trying to pose nicely & get a cat to look at the camera is a nightmare! Here's the old (current) photo, which was cropped from a random picture, grabbed at a lucky moment. I've been trying multiple times to recreate it in the past few weeks...

Well, 1,276 attempts later, Muesli is giving everyone the Evil Eye, I need to lie down in a dark room and my husband is threatening to divorce me if I ask him to do one more photoshoot ;-)

Sigh... we'll keep trying!

And finally... in a case of "life imitating art", I'm following in the footsteps of Poppy, the heroine of my ENGLISH COTTAGE GARDEN Mysteries and planting seeds for the first time! :-)

I'm trying to grow delphinium seedlings because I LOVE them but they're not really suited to the HOT Perth weather - last year, I bought 12 advanced plants from a specialist grower on the East Coast and I was gutted when all except one died over the summer! :-( And they're really expensive too.

So this year, I thought I'd try growing them from seed instead. Maybe they'll adapt better to the hot, dry weather if they start as seedlings in this climate. At least that's a lot cheaper and not such a waste if they all die again. :P

Here's Muesli helping me with the watering. They've actually all sprouted and are growing nicely now, since getting this photo... it's very exciting!!
