French-speaking fans - can you help please?

I recently announced the exciting news that I have started French translations of my books and my French translator is currently working on the first book in my Oxford Tearoom Mysteries.

Things are going well - however, one thing we're a bit stuck on is finding the best French term to use in the translation for "Old Biddies"?
Â
It's been a difficult task because there is no easy equivalent in French. In English, the term "old biddy" conveys the concept of a "meddling busybody" (usually an old lady!) - but in a nice way, with a touch of exasperation and even affection.

There doesn't seem to be an obvious French word/phrase which combines all those qualities. However, we've brainstormed a few terms which might be suitable - so if you're a French native speaker, can you please take this poll and vote for the term that you think is the best? I hope you had a nice break over Easter. I spent most of it working (as usual!) but I did take one afternoon off to make home-made chewy salted caramels.

Well, I am currently working on SALTED CARAMEL SORCERY, the next Bewitched by Chocolate mystery, so it's all in aid of "book research", of course! 😉

I found a video recipe on Youtube by British baker "Cupcake Jemma" and it was a lot easier than I thought (we even managed without a candy thermometer! We had to use the "cold water method" to guess the soft ball stage)Â
They were really delicious - SO much nicer than store-brought candies!
