Get ready for an Oxford Tearoom Mystery... with a Scottish flavour!

Well, they do say: "write what you know" and since I recently returned from a book research trip to Scotland, it seems only fitting to have Gemma, Muesli and the Old Biddies snooping for clues amongst the haggis and "heilan coos". 😉

With my books mostly set in the UK, I rely on regular trips back to help me maintain the “British” atmosphere and details so important for the world of my stories.

And I hadn't realised how crucial travel was to my writing, especially with providing ideas and inspiration... until the Covid pandemic "locked" me in Australia for the last 2 years and I suddenly found myself struggling with "writer's block" for the first time in my life!

So I was relieved to be able to squeeze in a book research trip during the recent visit back to the UK to see family. Check out my adventures in the Scottish Highlands, starting with the sleeper train to Inverness, meeting a real-life "monster hunter", sampling delicious home-made treats in a Scottish tearoom and more... on my blog! (I'll be sharing photos & stories of my trip in several posts over the next few weeks).

So yes, the next Oxford Tearoom Mystery - Book 12: A High Whisk Situation - is going to be set in the Scottish Highlands!

I'll be starting work on Book 8 soon and I plan to focus on finishing this series next year - so not long before you get a dose of "chocolate magic"! And if you haven't tried this series yet, do check it out!
